Golfing in Cyprus is considered to be a fairly new sport, many of the courses were first popularised in the late 1990´s. Winter in Europe can be a difficult time for anyone into golf with the unpredictable weather. Cyprus is one of the Mediterranean´s most beautiful islands and golf can be played here all year round. The varied landscapes offer some of the most stunning backdrops from Pine Mountains to golden sand beaches.

When golfing in Cyprus many golfers are lured not just by the excellent quality courses but also by the five star spa facilities that the country clubs have to offer.

The oldest golf course in Cyprus is the Tsada Golf Club and it offers some excellent natural fairways which run through vineyards and fruit orchards. The course is a par 72 and is 500 meters above sea level which caters for both high and low handicappers. The Secret Valley offers well maintained fairways which is a par 72.

The newest golf course in Cyprus, Aphrodite Hills is set overlooking the Mediterranean and is a 6,299 metre course and plays at a par 70.

The nearest golf course to Larnaca is the Vikla Golf and Country Club which you can play for €34 all day, this price includes club hire, tees and balls. Larnaca is set to gain its second golf club with Tersefanou Golf and Country Club and it is set to be completed in 2010. The new Tersefanou Golf and Country Club is to be PGA approved.

All of the current golf courses in Cyprus are excellent and offer quality facilities and challenging courses and with a further 11 planned Cyprus is set to become world re-known as the new golfing destination.
